Project- Research

The Karate Kid is a 1984 drama directed by John G. Avildsen which earned $176.6 million domestically and a total of $359.1 million worldwide. On of the actors featured in this film, Pat Morita, was nominated for both Best Actor in a Supporting Role(Oscar) and Best Performance by an Actor in a supporting role in a Motion Picture(Golden Globe). The movie starts on a black screen with the setting of the scene: Newark, New Jersey; September. Then there are a series of establishing shots of the city with upbeat incidental music playing. There is then a pan over the city that shows some chatter between families on the street including children saying farewell to the main characters of this movie driving away. We then watch the car drive down the road but we can hear the conversation occurring inside the car. Project Selection- Decision

Both the magazine and film projects have many intriguing aspects, but I would personally enjoy creating a film rather than the magazine. The film seems more interesting to me than the magazine. Producing a film will allow me to create a new world and then show others my product. I can also use actors to truly bring characters to life and make them more relatable. I am also excited to edit the film and experiment with the editing process to find the best way to display the scene. I am working with a partner who has a similar interest to make our film. We have decided to create a drama since we both enjoy films of that genre. My partner is good at time management which I usually struggle with so working with them will help to keep the film on track. We are working in a group of only two because we both agreed that we work better in smaller groups than larger groups. We are going to get together after doing research to create our script.

Project Selection-Film

Creating a film requires a lot of time and hard work but is also a great way to express yourself in a creative way. After watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off and the behind the scenes, I realized how much time not only the filming took but also how long the editing process took. Prior to watching the behind the scenes portion I had never put much thought into how much the making of a film is simply editing and stitching together the clips you've already taken. It is also very important to make sure you film enough footage as there will often be footage not used in the final film. There are no rules to how films are edited, which gives the producer the freedom to experiment and find the best way to display there film. The aspect of film that I would am most interested in and would be best at is the use of creativity. I think I would enjoy bringing my ideas to life through the film. Film allows people to create a whole new world and has the power to make the audience feel apart of ...
