Revisions

Our planned revisions are to change our credits. The rough draft had the credits roll on a black screen at the end of the clip. This feature created a feeling that the film was over, making it appear as a short film. Since this is actually the opening to a full length film we have decided to change the credits. Instead of having them roll at the end, they will appear on screen as the film begins. Many of the films we watched while doing research also used this technique. This technique was effective for these films and created the same feeling that we are trying to achieve. By incorporating the credits on top of part of the film, there will also be more time available to insert another short clip. This will make the clip feel more like an opening, as opposed to a short film. The credits should overall improve the film and make it read as planned.

Social Groups

The Pregnancy is focused on a teen couple who has to deal with an unplanned pregnancy. The social group that is addressed within the film is mainly teenagers and more specifically teens that experience unplanned pregnancy. Teen pregnancy is fairly common and can be extremely difficult for teens for many reasons. Not only is an unplanned pregnancy difficult for the couple directly affected, but also for the families and friends of the couple. Girls that become pregnant as minors are usually looked down upon and judged by others. They may be shamed by friends, family, or even by the guy that got her pregnant. We decided to use our film to show the difficulties that these girls may face in the hopes that this film may help guide others that go through a similar experience. Unplanned teen pregnancy can be very confusing and may make a very scared girl feel very much alone. Hopefully this film can help show that they are not alone and help others understand what it is like for the girl. Thi...

Filming Schedule

We are filming in only one location and filming a relatively short scene, so we are only expected to need one day to film. We are scheduled to film on Thursday, January 4th, as this is the date that we are all available. The Friday following, my partner and I are planning to meet to edit the film.

Casting

Damon's role will be played by Bryen Meyer and Katherine will be played by Abby Nott. We have decided on these actors because we feel that they will be perfect for the roles and make the film more realistic. Bryen and Abby are a couple in real life, so they have the natural chemistry that our characters need to have. Since our film is about a couple, we felt that using a couple would create a more genuine feel. Being a couple, it was easier for the actors to put themselves in the situation that our characters were in, although they have never actually experienced this particular situation. Both have prior experience in theater so they have acted before and have an understanding of how to create a dramatic feel. They also frequently watch dramas giving them even more insight on how to create the feel we need. Both my partner and I are friends with both actors making them easier to work with and easier to meet up with.
