Target Audience Research

The Hunger Games was a popular film directed by Gary Ross. The target audience of this film was mainly young adults and it was largely a success due to many different marketing techniques. Lionsgate gave away 80,000 movie posters, advertised on 3,00 billboards, and had about 50 magazine cover stories. They also largely utilized social media to advertise their movie using, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Tumblr, Yahoo, and online games. Their online presence helped to reach the youth as many teenagers use these sites regularly. They also attended ComicCon where they gained an even larger fan base and gave out posters to fans. MTV is known to have a large amount of teen followers, which is likely the reason Lionsgate used their website to publish their one-minute teaser in 2011. This grabbed the attention of even more young fans. The Hunger Games also has an online game tat over 800,000 individuals have made an account for. Lionsgate marketing strategy was successful in attracting a young audience largely due to their use of online sites.

The story negatively impacted their credibility and made it harder to find sources for their next story. I think the magazine project would be a good fit for me because I like to focus on the facts of a situation and I do not usually jump to conclusions without supporting evidence. I also enjoy writing but this project would be challenging to me when it comes to interviewing people. Meeting new people and asking them the right questions would be difficult an...
